January 2022 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! It is hard to believe we are kicking off another year and we are so excited to share some of the things we have been working on to further our mission in 2022.

  • Apraxia Awareness Month allows us to educate our families and professional community all while spreading awareness about our cause to as many people as possible. Plans are well underway for May and our hope is to share our theme and resources very soon. Check out our Awareness page for more information on Apraxia Awareness Month and the different ways you can help spread awareness of childhood apraxia of speech in your community.
  • We are once again looking for volunteers to file proclamations in your local state, county, or community to make May 14th Apraxia Awareness Day even more impactful! If you are interested in getting involved this year, follow this link to sign up!
  • 2022 marks the 15th anniversary of the Walk for Apraxia. Since our first walk in 2008, we have celebrated over 10,000 Apraxia Stars across North America. We look forward to sharing our official 2022 Walk shirt and some new incentive prizes next month. In the meantime, be sure to follow the Walk for Apraxia Facebook Page for the most recent updates.
  • We continue to identify and share Resource Guides on our website, including an array of new children’s books about childhood apraxia of speech. If you have a resource to share with the community, follow this link to provide additional information.
  • Plans are underway for our Research Symposium & National Conference taking place in person July 5-9, 2022 in Las Vegas. Hotel information will be shared soon and registration for the National Conference will open in March. Keep checking back on our website as more information and updates become available!
  • This month, we are hosting the second annual Apraxia Kids 5K Voice Venture. This virtual race is available for those who would like to walk, jog, or run while raising awareness about CAS. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Race times are due on January 31, 2022.
  • There’s still a little time left to apply for our Speech Tablets for Apraxia Program! Applications are due (and must be postmarked by) January 10, 2022.

Apraxia Kids is so grateful for your continued commitment to our organization. By investing in our future, you are impacting the voices of tomorrow. Because of your support, we are able to develop and share new programs, content, and resources with our community. We look forward to continuing our work together.  Follow Apraxia Kids for updates as we launch our new initiatives in 2022!

Warmest Regards,

Angela Grimm
