February 2022 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

The month of February carries a different meaning for many of us. It is filled with love for those that we care for most. It means winter is hopefully almost over, and spring will be here before we know it. It also means honoring and celebrating those who fought for civil liberties.

This Black History Month, we are committed to sharing resources, perspectives, and learning opportunities with our community. As an organization whose mission is to ensure every child finds their voice, we want to make sure that means every child and family is finding the appropriate diagnosis, treatment, support, and resources.

Walk for Apraxia registration will be opening later this month. 2022 marks the 15th Anniversary of our first Walk for Apraxia event, and we cannot wait to celebrate this fall with each of you.   You can participate in the Walk in various ways, such as registering for free and fundraising to earn one of our incentives (including the official Walk for Apraxia t-shirt), showcasing your business by sponsoring a local Walk, or volunteering your time to plan a local Walk event. Our Walks would not be possible without our dedicated walkers, supporters, and volunteers. Visit our Walk for Apraxia Splash Page for more details on how you can get involved.

Our National Conference will be taking place July 7-9th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Registration will open in March, so keep an eye out for more information. To stay up-to-date on all details of this event, follow our Facebook Event Page. In addition, our conference scholarship application is open until February 25th, with decisions coming in early March.

As our staff continues to plan for 2022, there are a few other things to note. Apraxia Awareness Month is quickly approaching! Visit our Proclamations webpage to fill out a form to file a proclamation in your area to declare May 14 Apraxia Awareness Day! Be the Voice kits provide additional resources for fundraising and awareness events. Our voices need to be louder than ever, spreading awareness about childhood apraxia of speech and Apraxia Kids!

Please know how appreciative we are of each and every one of you for being part of our apraxia family. Together, we can make an impact in 2022. We ask that you continue to share our resources with a new family or SLP; join us for a Walk and our National Conference and spread awareness this May! Your continued support impacts the voices of tomorrow. As always, thank you for being a valued member of our community.

Warmest Regards,

Angela Grimm
Executive Director
