March 2021 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

These first few months of 2021 have been quite busy at Apraxia Kids. Spring is a season of new beginnings, and we are excited to share all of the great things we have to look forward to in the coming months.

Over 80 Walk for Apraxia events are now open across the United States. Our new and improved Walk registration process is user-friendly and includes new tools to assist in your fundraising endeavors. We invite everyone to register for the Walk as there is no registration fee. Please share the link with your friends, family, SLPs, and anyone else in your network. By participating in the Walk, you strengthen our apraxia community by spreading awareness and raising funds to support our programs and services.

On March 8th, registration for the 2021 National Conference will open. For the first time, our National Conference will be held as a completely virtual event. Because of the technological opportunities a virtual event provides, speakers from across the world will be on hand sharing their knowledge of childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). Dedicated speaker chats will be available, allowing our esteemed presenters to answer your questions. A few conference favorites such as topic tables, the SLP-Is-In Booth, and more will be incorporated into the Virtual Conference experience. We know how difficult this last year has been, and with that in mind, we will offer special pricing for the 2021 Virtual Conference. Because education is a core pillar of our mission, we will be providing a Hardship Grant application to assist families of Apraxia Stars in need within our community. You can find additional information on our website.

We continue to plan for Apraxia Awareness Month coming in May. Our 2021 Awareness Month calendar is now available. In addition, a brand new blue Apraxia Awareness T-Shirt and an Apraxia Kids yard sign have been added to our store and are available for purchase. These are great items you can use to spread awareness and show your support of children with CAS.

Please know how appreciative we are of each and every one of you for being part of our apraxia family. I hope that we can count on you to help us make a difference this spring. From inviting a new family to join the Walk for Apraxia, to sharing the link for the National Conference with your SLP, to spreading awareness by getting your Apraxia Awareness Shirt or yard sign, every little action helps us move our mission forward. We invite you to invest in our future and support the thousands of children on their journey to find their voices by participating in one or all of our upcoming events.

Warmest Regards,

Angela Grimm
Executive Director
