What YOU Helped Us Accomplish During Apraxia Awareness Month

This month, our amazing community came together all over the world to raise awareness about apraxia and to celebrate our apraxia stars!

A record number of families and professionals met with their local government to proclaim May 14th as Apraxia Awareness Day! This is a critical component of continuing to raise awareness of childhood apraxia of speech at the local level!

Monuments glowed blue in celebration of our stars thanks to the efforts of volunteers across North America!

We raised over $27,000 on our first ever Apraxia Day of Giving! This will enable us to continue supporting newly diagnosed families by sending them a folder full of information at no cost, and offering conference scholarships to further their education!

Our community shared their stories on social media throughout the month of May, letting their personal networks know how they have been impacted by childhood apraxia of speech! Through sharing her story, Michelle’s friends realized that they knew other families impacted by apraxia as well! Their mutual friends connected them, and all three families were close in proximity and had stars that were roughly the same age!

“This Apraxia Awareness Day, we asked everyone we knew to wear blue and to send us a picture. I didn’t think many people would participate, but I kept getting more and more pictures sent to me, and from all corners of the world too! It’s safe to say we were incredibly overwhelmed with the support we received! My daughter was so happy to see everyone wearing blue.” – Alexis, Apraxia Mom

We know that we must keep this momentum going and continue to raise awareness year round! YOU can get involved by sharing your story on social media, participating in your local Walk for Apraxia, and continuing to share resources with your personal network!
