Describe treatment approach used: My approach to therapy is child-directed. Sessions are tailored to the individual child's interest and specific needs. As much as possible I follow their lead while guiding them in the direction of my goals for the session. I firmly believe that therapy should be fun and play-based! Eliciting target word repetitions can be accomplished while having a pretend picnic, playing pop-up-pirate, building and knocking down dominoes, or searching for stuffed animals hidden around the room. I don’t believe there is any one treatment technique or program that works for every child, but instead pull from skills I’ve learned from many different trainings to best fit each child’s needs. My general approach follows the principles of motor learning and relies heavily on DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing) and a multi- sensory approach. I use gestural cues and combine ideas from PROMPT (I’m level 2 trained) as well as the Kaufmann K-SLP.

Describe parent/caregiver involvement: Parents are welcome and encouraged to be present for the session. When this isn’t possible, videos are taken during the session to share with the parents so they can be educated on home programming. The last few minutes of each session are reserved for reviewing the session with the parent and providing target words/activities for home practice
