Use existing phonemic repertoire and word/syllable shapes to expand variety of functional word approximations to increase functionally intelligible expressive communication
Work to be able to produce sounds currently in phonemic repertoire, in new word/syllable shapes
Work to expand phonemic repertoire (based on stimulability) to include new sounds and apply them to word shapes/syllables child currently produces
Practice successive approximations toward functional nouns, verbs/functions, manding words, and high-interest/frequently needed words
Use these vocabulary words to facilitate ongoing expressive and pragmatic language development via 2-word combinations in naturally existing play and/or social opportunities, working toward longer utterances with correct morphosyntax
Work toward spontaneity and true word productions via fading of supports
Assess for and implement AAC type/level appropriate to child and family needs
I have promoted CAS events, literature, and articles through my employer's media outlets, as well as through my personal social media.
Contribute to development of word lists; Present during treatment sessions as able for direct teaching/training and return demonstration, and ongoing indirect learning through observation of treatment; Daily carryover of home programming individualized to the child and updated as skills and functional performance changes
I have used a variety of AAC methods, including sign, PECS, single/multi-switch devices, and high-tech SGDs, to support functional expression and language development while simultaneously treating CAS.
