My therapy is child-centered and parent-partnered. This means I believe we are a collaborative team, working together to help your child communicate. While I am trained in DTTC, Prompt and ReST, I use an eclectic approach using research based techniques and strategies to help build a child's verbal communication skills.
I am very involved in the apraxia community locally here in the Houston area as I am a lead volunteer for the annual Houston Apraxia Walk.
I believe parents are an integral part of the therapy process. I encourage all parents to attend therapy sessions so they are able to learn strategies to support their child's communication skills outside of the therapy setting.
I provide children with low tech communication supports (pictures, visuals, communication boards) when they are first learning to communicate and need to supplement their verbal communication. When appropriate, I have helped families secure funding for high tech voice output devices through private insurance and public school.
