I believe in a multi-sensory, multi-modal approach using research proven techniques. I include AAC as needed to augment communication. I have received training through Apraxia Kids’s BootCamp, Bridging Level of PROMPT and include those approaches in my treatment session
I have had the privilege of working with families in my community in Idaho, participating in the Apraxia Walks, talking at local parent groups, helping to organize presentations for professionals and parents with nationally recognized speakers. I continue to support the local Apraxia parent group and offer services (both diagnostic and treatment as well as support).
Parents are encouraged to be present at all therapy sessions, active participants in the session as appropriate and complete home exercise program(s) to facilitate their child’s progress in speech and communication. I believe strongly that parents make a difference and need to be well educated in what approaches are being used with their child and be able to support those approaches.
