Our Ongoing Commitment to Research

Since our inception in 2000, Apraxia Kids has been committed to research as it is vital for improving clinical outcomes for children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). For us to achieve our mission, evidence-based assessment and treatment of children with CAS is critical.

Our commitment to research through awarding grants to researchers and facilitating our Research Symposium remains a top priority here at Apraxia Kids.   We are excited to announce the launch of our new research page on our website!  By visiting this page, you will find a wide array of information that is easily accessible.   Topics include:

Why is Research Important? includes info on what is research, evidence based practice and has the 2021 video with researchers describing current research projects.

Research Grants has descriptions of the four Apraxia Kids currently funded research projects, the grant application for 2023 grants which is now open, and the research grant timeline describing results from all previous Apraxia Kids funded research projects.

Research Participation has flyers from research projects that are recruiting participants and how to contact them. Researchers can fill out a form to have their projects posted here.

Research Symposium has a brief description of the three previous research symposiums (2002, 2013, 2022) and Dr. Edwin Maas’ video recapping the highlights from the 2022 Research Symposium. Information for the next Research Symposium will be posted here.

Published Article Summaries has brief summaries of published articles and links to the articles.

We hope that this new format makes our information more easily accessible and digestible for our apraxia community.  The generous support of our apraxia community funds these research efforts and for that we are extremely grateful.  If you feel inclined to support our research efforts, please consider making a donation (link to donate page) to Apraxia Kids.   Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children with apraxia of speech.
