June 2023 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe another Awareness Month is in the books! Thanks to all of you, this past May was one of our strongest yet, spreading awareness about childhood apraxia of speech and furthering the mission of Apraxia Kids – THANK YOU! We are excited to share some highlights with you from the month along with a look ahead to all the great things we have coming in the next few months.

Awareness Month saw the launch of our new Find Hope, Give Hope initiative where hope is provided to families in need along their journey because of our generous apraxia community giving hope through the telling of their stories. In addition, Apraxia Kids hosted a variety of events through Awareness Month such as You Asked, We Answered VLOGSWalk TalksCAS childrens’ book readings, along with the launch of our Find Hope, Give Hope initiative. We could not have done this without the support of our Boot Camp Graduates, Walk Coordinators, and Book Authors. All of these videos are available for viewing on our YouTube channel!

Nearly 200 proclamations were filed in 37 states and provinces and 150+ cities and counties. Countless city landmarks turned blue, and various awareness and fundraising events took place along with our continued partnership with Taco Cabana. A complete recap of Awareness Month, including our special shoutouts, can be found by visiting our Awareness page on our website.

On the horizon, we look forward to our National Conference, taking place July 6-8 in Plano, Texas. This unique conference experience allows parents and SLPs to learn together and further their knowledge of CAS. If you have not registered yet, we encourage you to do so today as sessions are filling up and our discounted room rate at the official conference hotel will end on June 10th.

This fall, we will host 64 in-person Walk for Apraxia events with a virtual option, as well. We invite you to register and celebrate that special Apraxia Star in your life all while spreading awareness and raising critical funds to support all of the programs here at Apraxia Kids. Please visit our Walk for Apraxia page to find the Walk closest to you. Remember, registration for the Walk is FREE.

And finally, thanks to the generous support of our community, Apraxia Kids will be launching our NEW IEP Roadmap very soon! This interactive resource will help families navigate the often bumpy path of acquiring appropriate educational services for their child. This new FREE resource will guide families through the process and provide helpful information each step of the way.

We value our partnership with each of you. Together, we can GIVE HOPE through education, support, and awareness. As we look to the summer and fall, we encourage you to continue making an impact by telling your story; joining a Walk, sharing our Parent Portal with a new family, or by making a financial gift to Apraxia Kids. By doing one or all of these things, you are making a difference! Thank you for being our partner and for your continued commitment to Apraxia Kids!
