April 2023 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

As we gear up for Awareness Month in May, we want our apraxia community to give hope to new families as they navigate their apraxia journey. As those families find answers and feel supported, we encourage them to share stories of how they found hope. From those GIVING hope to a family who received a new diagnosis to a family FINDING hope through the resources and community of Apraxia Kids, our commitment to furthering our mission remains strong – every child deserves a voice! The remaining nine months of 2023 are filled with many opportunities for you to be involved in the continuous circle of giving and finding hope.

Give Hope by spreading awareness about childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and Apraxia Kids during Apraxia Awareness Month. We hope you will find our Official Apraxia Awareness Month Calendar useful. Each day, you will have the opportunity to take action and spread awareness about CAS. We invite you to join us online for educational opportunities, share our resources, post on social media, and help us raise critical funds to further the mission of Apraxia Kids.

Find Hope through education by planning to attend our National Conference taking place July 6-8 in Plano, Texas. Both in-person and virtual registration are now open! This unique learning opportunity provides evidence-based education on treatment, diagnosis, bilingualism, and methods to help children with CAS. We encourage you to check out our line-up of sessions and speakers and register today.

Give Hope by ordering a Be the Voice kit. Our Classroom and Awareness kits allow you to spread awareness about CAS, giving hope to families who have not heard about apraxia or Apraxia Kids.

Find & Give Hope by joining your local Walk for Apraxia event and inviting others to participate with you! By Walking together, we are growing our network, spreading awareness, and celebrating the Apraxia Stars that inspire us every single day. If you do not see a Walk in your area and have a passion for event planning, complete this survey and we will be in touch with more information about what it takes to start a Walk.

As the leading nonprofit focused on childhood apraxia of speech, our commitment remains to GIVE hope to those families that have found Apraxia Kids and provide resources and support to those who are looking to FIND hope. We are collecting written and video stories to inspire our apraxia community in May and so we invite you to contribute your apraxia story by completing this interest form to receive more information. Thank you for furthering the mission of Apraxia Kids.

Best,
Angela Grimm
Executive Director
