What is the Virtual Walk for Apraxia?

As we move into the autumn months, that means Walk for Apraxia season is upon us, and this year we are celebrating in a new and unique way!

At the beginning of 2020, most people had never heard of a “Virtual Event” let alone participated in one. Now, as we adjust to this new normal, Virtual Events are becoming a fundamental part of that new normal! As such, we are excited to celebrate the Walk for Apraxia virtually this year, together with you and all of our families nationwide as we grow and strengthen our apraxia community.

Participating in the Virtual Walk for Apraxia is the next best thing to being together at a Walk for Apraxia event in person! As a Virtual Walker, not only will you receive all of your 2020 Walk for Apraxia swag in the mail, but you’ll also join hundreds of other participants all across the country walking for the same cause around their neighborhoods. There will also be a special Virtual Walk Ceremony to celebrate each of the Apraxia Stars in your community on the day of your local Virtual Walk!

The benefit of the Virtual Walk is that you can tailor your celebration to be unique to your team and your Apraxia Star. If you can’t walk on the date scheduled for your city, you can choose a time and place for your family to celebrate whenever it is convenient for you. Whether you decide to decorate the front yard, eat your Apraxia Star’s favorite foods, or make a sign to carry on your walk around the neighborhood, the Virtual Walk allows for a totally customizable experience that can be tailored specifically to create a memorable celebration for your Apraxia Star and Walk team!

Check out our Virtual Walk Information center for additional information about the Virtual Walk, as well as Virtual Celebration and Virtual Fundraising ideas to help spark your creativity! We are also excited to share our Virtual Celebration Kit, which has various resources and printables to help enhance your Virtual Walk Day experience!
