Welcome Claudio Capone!

Dear Apraxia Kids Family,

I am honored and excited to assume the role of the Apraxia Kids Board Chairman, an organization that has been near and dear to my heart for many years. As a parent of a child with childhood apraxia of speech, I have firsthand experience with the challenges and triumphs this journey can bring. It is an honor to be part of an incredible organization, dedicated to empowering children with apraxia and their families.

As I step into this leadership position, I want to assure you that Apraxia Kids remains committed to being the premier resource for childhood apraxia of speech. We will continue to:

  • Champion cutting-edge research and evidence-based practices: We will advocate for increased research funding, support the education of our speech and language pathologists, and ensure our resources reflect the latest scientific advancements.
  • Empower families with knowledge and support: We will provide comprehensive information, educational materials, and access to evidence-based guidance for families navigating the complexities of childhood apraxia of speech.
  • Build a strong community of connection: We will foster a supportive network where families can share experiences, learn from one another, and find strength in knowing they are not alone.

Beyond these core values, I also believe the time is right to explore new horizons and further solidify Apraxia Kids’ position as the leading force in the field. This includes:

  • Diversifying our revenue sources: We will seek innovative funding opportunities to ensure long-term sustainability and expand our reach to even more families in need. This may involve exploring corporate partnerships, grants, and other fundraising initiatives.
  • Establishing a greater global presence: From our recent collaboration with Mikey’s Wish and our trip to London, we quickly realized our programs and resources are needed now more than ever not only in the United States but across the world. This will allow us to share our expertise and resources with families across the globe, while also fostering international collaborations and knowledge exchange.

These are ambitious goals, but I know that with the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and the incredible Apraxia Kids community, we can achieve them. I am confident that together, we can make an even greater difference in the lives of children with speech apraxia and their families.

I would like to thank the Board, Staff, our Executive Director Angela Grimm, and our past Chairman Lou LaVecchia for all of the accomplishments to date. And I would like to thank you for your unwavering support and let us continue to build a brighter future for children with childhood apraxia of speech.

Sincerely,

Claudio Capone
