Describe treatment approach used: PROMPT is the technique utilized in my practice by all therapists. After the assessment is complete, three priorities are chosen from the Motor Speech Hierarchy to address each session. Motor phoneme links are selected to address the three priorities and Goals are written (long and short term). Sessions will start off with an organizing activity if the child requires this to settle into the session and improve attention. A motor phoneme warm up of massed practice will last about 5-7 minutes and will prepare the motor system for the movements that will be targeted within that session. Once completed, two or three cognitively appropriate activities that encourage turn taking and engagement will be selected. A lexicon will be created from the motor phoneme links selected and addressed during the activities. As PROMPT clinicians we provide the appropriate level of PROMPTs for each child and are continuously assessing throughout the session. Once the session is completed notes are formulated and any changes to goals will be made.

Describe parent/caregiver involvement: Parents may sit in the session the last 5-7 minutes to see what has been focused on. A notebook is kept with every child in the practice so the parents and others working with the child may read about each session. We provide homework and send short video clips of sessions so they can see how best to work with their child at home when playing with similar activities.

Describe your past and current involvement in the Apraxia community? My involvement is with my families in the practice. I have over 80 families in the practice and therefore come across many families that are in local schools and we work closely with schools and the other therapists in the community. In addition, as a PROMPT instructor I teach other SLP's the technique which connects me to many opportunities to be involved with their clients and places of work.
