Describe treatment approach used: I use repetitive practice through a multisensory approach. When working with children, I choose target vocabulary that is relevant to their daily lives while practicing words that are appropriate for their motor phonotactic level as well.

Describe parent/caregiver involvement: Parents are very important in the therapy process. Due to the importance of repetition and generalization, parents must be active in therapy. I talk to the family about their goals and then collaborate to form a plan. Family involvement is so important in therapy for CAS. It is very helpful to develop this vocabulary with the family. Parents are welcome to observe treatment or to come in at the end of therapy to review therapy goals.

Describe your past and current involvement in the Apraxia community? I try to stay up to date on the latest research through articles and webinars. I enjoy attending continuing education classes which provide new treatment ideas for CAS. I also work with various preschools in my area and try to educate staff, teachers, and parents about CAS.
