Describe treatment approach used: I take a motor planing approach using multiple phonetic cues and structured syllable shapes. I first assess where the student is successful and then build upon that success using functional vocabulary with syllables that are first easier. For example, possible VC functional words (e.g., up, at, on, in, out) as a starting point. I also use the Core Vocabulary Approach which has been proven successful with children who have Apraxia as well as inconsistent speech disorder. I use a collaborated approach with parents and coach them every step of the way so that the child can have continue to have the repetitive practice throughout daily routines that are meaningful for the child.

Describe parent/caregiver involvement: Parents are involved in every session, they attend sessions with their child. During a typical session, I might demonstrate how to elicit a target from the child and then once the child is successful I immediately have the parent step in and take over the activity while providing them with evaluative, affirmative, and reflective feedback. During every session the parent generates the home plan for the week along with my guidance. Each week the parent reports back on the home plan and that guides our targets for the next session.
