I am committed to providing excellence in clinical service for children of all ages and their families. I believe that everyone has a fundamental right to communicate in meaningful ways and that therapy should be fun, play-based, and centered on the individual needs of the child. For children with apraxia, therapy sessions are based on personal interests and current strengths and needs. Children are supported in a nurturing therapy environment so that they feel successful, capable, and confident.
I have been working with children with apraxia throughout my career, and I have also taught about apraxia in the university setting.
Parents are always invited to therapy sessions and are routinely informed of progress and strategies for success. Parents are always free to ask questions and request more information.
I have extensive experience with AAC for children with complex communication needs. I know that research shows that AAC can foster speech and language skills, and I have used AAC in my practice to help facilitate verbal skills for children with apraxia.
