Therapy at A to B Speech is centered around the families and littles that we serve. We use evidence-based practice to incorporate the principles of motor learning into therapy for CAS while maintaining a play-based approach when appropriate to make learning fun! We love working closely with families to identify functional target words for their littles that help make practicing at home easier and help our littles feel more success in their daily lives. We love incorporating the interests of each kiddo that we work with into therapy to boost motivation to learn and make therapy and learning both functional and fun!
We love working closely with parents throughout the therapy process and consider the families goals, routines, and preferences as we work together to make a unique treatment plan for each kiddo that we see. Parents are welcome to join sessions and work with the clinician during therapy sessions, both virtual and in-person, and practice activities are crafted around the current routines of each family to make practicing easier in today's busy world!
At A to B Speech, we honor communication in all forms and use visuals, gestures, signs, choice boards, and higher-tech AAC (such as a speech generating devices) depending on the child's unique communication needs. We use family input and the child's current strengths to build their confidence, support their communication, and meet them where they are so that we can walk to the next step in their success! When higher-tech AAC is an avenue that is being explored or that a child currently uses, we include play-based targets, functional targets, and interest-based vocabulary modeling with their device during therapy. We honor communication and provide lots of language modeling as we work on speech goals and objectives.
