I believe that what works best for children with CAS is when the SLP and family work closely together, and sessions are play-based and encouraging. I utilize a variety of evidence based methods in my sessions, including principals of motor learning, and DTTC (dynamic temporal tactile cueing). I pair sounds with visual and gestural cues, and focus on helping the child establish new motor plans for different types of sound/syllable combinations. I believe strongly in using a total communication approach, which means making sure to offer a variety of ways to communicate, including sign language, and low and high tech AAC options.
