At Bright Steps Pediatric Therapy, our first priority is building a trusting, supportive connection with each child. Therapy is individualized, child-centered, and grounded in evidence-based motor-learning approaches for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).
We develop specific, functional speech movement targets and provide intensive, structured practice using methods that support motor planning and consistency. Sessions are engaging, play-based, and tailored to each child’s interests so that high repetition feels meaningful and motivating.
Our clinicians are trained in Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), Rapid Syllable Transitions (ReST), and PROMPT. These approaches help us support your child’s speech motor needs in a structured, effective way. We also use a combination of repetition, multisensory cues, and step-by-step support to help new speech skills “stick” and carry over into daily life.
Our goal is for every child to develop clear, functional, and confident communication that supports their everyday interactions and relationships.
Parents do not need to be in every session, but your involvement is an important part of helping your child make steady progress. Consistent attendance, learning the cues and strategies we use in therapy, and practicing short, manageable home exercises (when appropriate) all make a meaningful difference.
We provide regular updates on your child’s treatment, targets, and progress, and will offer home practice activities when it’s the right time. Our goal is to make your role clear, supportive, and easy to follow.
Every child deserves a reliable way to communicate. When speech is not yet functional, we introduce AAC to ensure the child has a meaningful voice from the start.
We support children using:
• Low-tech AAC (picture boards, PECS-style systems, communication books)
• Mid- and high-tech AAC systems and voice-output devices
Our clinicians are formally trained in both low- and high-tech AAC, and some are also trained in LAMP Words for Life. We work closely with AAC specialists when device assessment, selection, or programming is needed. AAC is always integrated into therapy as a bridge to support communication while building speech motor skills.
