I have a private practice and also work part-time at Stanford Medicine Children's Health (Menlo Park, CA). My therapy for CAS in both settings is data-driven and client-centered. I prioritize working with families in order to choose an approach which best suits the needs of their child. I always spend time building rapport and creating a personal connection with the child, which is necessary in order to create a foundation for successful speech therapy.
I involve parents from the onset of speech therapy, explaining my assessment observations, rationale for treatment approaches and goals, as well as inviting them to be a team player during treatment sessions.
I have worked with children who use both low and high tech AAC. I will always focus on developing a child's functional language skills while simultaneously prioritizing motor speech goals.
