How do I file a proclamation?
Before Filing:
Complete the online request form. Once submitted, Apraxia Kids will contact you to:
- Confirm volunteer availability in your area – We’ll ensure only one (1) volunteer is assigned per location or help identify alternative ways to engage if a volunteer is already assigned in your area.
- Provide updated templates, tools, and examples
- Offer support along the way
Filing a Proclamation (Step-by-Step Process):
- Submit a request
Complete an online form or write a letter to your local or state government representative. This may require searching online to find the correct contact information. If you need help, Apraxia Kids is happy to assist.
- Send your materials
Along with your request, include a letter explaining why apraxia awareness is important and attach a proclamation template. Apraxia Kids will provide tools, templates, and examples to guide you through this step. Be sure to complete the online request form so we know how to support you.
- Await review
The official will review your request and may approve, deny, or modify it. Throughout the process, you will serve as the local contact – keeping Apraxia Kids informed of progress and outcomes.
Once a Proclamation is Issued:
- If approved, your local representatives may email or mail the document to you or invite you to pick it up at their office. We would love for you to share a photo with us so we can celebrate and share it with the broader apraxia community!
- If you are invited to attend a signing or meet your local government leader, please let us know. We can offer some community outreach so others may attend. This is a wonderful opportunity to educate leaders about the challenges faced by children with apraxia—and a meaningful way to show your Apraxia Star pride.
If you’re interested in filing a proclamation, scroll to the bottom of this page and complete the online request form. The locations listed below already have a local volunteer assigned to file on our behalf. If you see your area listed, we encourage you to submit a request for a different location.
