Overall Treatment Approach:
I incorporate the principles of motor learning into therapy in order to establish and then generalize new skills. With younger clients, I focus on selecting functional targets that can be built into fun and motivating therapy activities. I select supportive cues to increase success, as appropriate for each child, and gradually reduce use of cues as a child becomes more independent.

Percent of CAS cases: 5

Parent Involvement:
I include parents in therapy by selecting targets with parent-input and find ways for parents to reinforce established skills at home. For example, after a client established the word 'honey', his mom reinforced this skill by asking him what he wanted on his toast daily and ensuring correct productions.

Community Involvement:
I attend Apraxia Kids webinars and recently attended the Apraxia Kids intensive training, hosted by Alberta Health Services. I am a member of the Apraxia Kids Canada Facebook page and I am a leader amongst my colleagues on apraxia education and mentorship.
