July 2023 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

The first two weeks of July have been quite eventful here at Apraxia Kids. Last week, 315 parents and professionals gathered in person at this year’s Apraxia Kids National Conference in Plano, Texas along with more than 330 additional attendees who will be watching virtual sessions through July 31! In addition, we were surprised by our National Partner, Taco Cabana who presented us with a check in the amount of $50,000 from their round up program. We are so grateful for their continued support of raising awareness about CAS along with raising funds to support our mission! If you missed this year’s conference, we encourage you to mark your calendars for July 11-13, 2024 for when we return home to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for our 2024 National Conference.

Even though we are already halfway through 2023, we still have a lot to look forward to as we continue through the remainder of this year.

Walk season is in full swing with 64 in-person Walk for Apraxia events across North America this fall along with our Virtual Walk, offering the flexibility to celebrate virtually for communities where a Walk is not taking place. We want all of our Apraxia Stars to be involved in the Walk for Apraxia and to be celebrated for their hard work!

Sponsorship opportunities are still available if you or someone you know is looking to support a local Walk.  There is also plenty of time to take part in the Summer Team Challenge! Our Walk teams have the opportunity to earn a custom team sign to carry proudly on Walk day by registering 5 people to their team and collectively raising $500 by July 31st. Remember, you can register for the Walk for Apraxia for FREE! It has never been easier to join the Walk, raise awareness and funds, celebrate your Apraxia Star, and help us support Apraxia Stars nationwide.

Thanks to the support of our apraxia community, our  IEP Road Map is now available on our website. This interactive resource will help families navigate the often bumpy path of acquiring appropriate educational services for their child. This new FREE resource will guide families through the process and provide helpful information each step of the way.

Your support of Apraxia Kids fuels our mission year round.  Together, we can GIVE HOPE to the apraxia community.  As we plan for the second half of 2023, we encourage you to spread awareness by telling your storyjoining a Walk, sharing our resources such as our Parent Portal and IEP Road Map, or by making a donation to further our mission. By doing one or all of these things, you are making a huge difference!

Please know how grateful we are for your support of Apraxia Kids!
