Apraxia Awareness Month 2025 – Connect with your child’s school

Every Monday in May will be sharing a “challenge” for you to connect with a specific part of our community. This week we are focusing on connecting with your child’s school including staff, teachers, and friends in the classroom! We love our teachers and school staff!

Be the Voice: Ask your school if you can host a Be the Voice event or fundraiser. This is an excellent way to help your child’s class learn more about apraxia in an age appropriate way and celebrate your Apraxia Star! There are multiple options for Be the Voice and an Apraxia Kids staff member would love to help you plan your Be the Voice event!

Book Reading: A great way to introduce CAS to your child’s class and teachers is by sharing a children’s book about apraxia! Ask if you can join your child’s class as a guest reader and pick your favorite book to read to them. Or we have a selection of author’s reading their books on our YouTube channel that you can email to your child’s teacher for them to play and share with the class!

Classroom Resources: Our downloadables and printables page is filled with FREE classroom resources aimed at supporting your child in the classroom. From letters to teachers, to coloring pages for students, we have so many options to raise awareness and educate your child’s class!

You Asked, We Answered: Our YouTube series, You Asked We Answered is filled with videos that answer the burning questions directly from our Apraxia Kids Support Group. You can share these videos with your school staff and teachers to help them learn more about CAS and even answer some of their questions!

IEP Roadmap: Did you know Apraxia Kids has a FREE resource that breaks down the IEP process and helps you know what to ask and when to take action? Check out the IEP Roadmap! While this resource is apraxia specific, it can also be helpful for anyone facing an IEP meeting. Share it on your social media to help another parent out!
