Overall Treatment Approach:

Therapy is typically play-based with frequent practice of selected words. A list is created with the caregiver's input to choose words that will be powerful within the home setting. These words will be used repeatedly in therapy to build speech skills. Additionally, if the child needs support with being understood, pictures and electronic devices are used to help the child communicate.

Parent Involvement:

Parents are expected to consistently practice the same words at home that are used in therapy. They also provide valuable information on how the child is doing in the home and other areas of their life, and where they could use more support.

AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:

I frequently have iPads or picture boards within reach that are referenced throughout therapy if a child has trouble getting their message across. It is used to repair communication breakdowns.
