At Little Bee the SLP, LLC we understand that communication challenges, such as Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), affect your child's entire life. Our therapy sessions are personalized to meet your child's unique needs, emphasizing the importance of involving caregivers in each session. This collaborative approach ensures that strategies are seamlessly integrated into daily routines, promoting consistent progress. We offer therapy services both in the comfort of your home and through teletherapy, providing flexibility to accommodate your family's busy schedule. By working together, we aim to empower your child to find their "buzz" and enhance their communication skills in all aspects of life
From the very start, we work closely with parents to understand their child's needs and develop a personalized therapy plan. Throughout the process, parents are active participants in each session, learning strategies and techniques that can be used at home. We provide families with specific exercises and ways to reinforce their child's speech goals in everyday activities, whether it’s during meals, playtime, or even while running errands. We track progress regularly and make adjustments to therapy as needed. Our goal is to make sure family members/caregivers feel supported and confident in helping their child continue to grow outside of our sessions, creating a consistent and nurturing environment for them to thrive.
At Little Bee the SLP, we use both low-tech and high-tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods to support children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) when speech is difficult or limited. For low-tech AAC, we might use picture boards or communication books to help children express their needs and thoughts. For high-tech AAC, we may introduce communication apps or devices that use symbols, pictures, or text-to-speech features, which can make communication more accessible and effective. These tools give children a way to communicate while they work on improving their speech, and we guide parents through using them both at home and in therapy to ensure their child has the best possible support.
