My overall treatment approach includes parent participation and training, use of principles of motor learning, and a variety of tactile, gestural, and visual cues individualized for each child. These strategies are utilized while working within a developmental approach to treatment.
I attended and graduated from the Apraxia Kids Intensive SLP Training. I have also attended several of the Apraxia Kids national conferences, beginning in 2007. Currently, I collaborate with families and other providers (SLP’s and OT’s) for treatment strategies and differential diagnosis.
I encourage parents to attend therapy sessions and participate to learn strategies to carry over skills in the home environment. Parents are also key in helping to develop a functional vocabulary for their child.
