Kim's treatment approach is very child-centered. She understands that every family has a unique set of strengths, goals, and challenges and she works with children and their families to reach these goals. Therapy specific goals always start with establishing a strong rapport. Initial goals in therapy focus on implementing strategies to improve methods for immediate functional communication. Specific therapy techniques vary from child to child and can change from session to session with the child's needs and strengths guiding changes.
Kim is always looking for ways to stay involved in the apraxia community. She participates in Apraxia fundraisers, advocates for improved identification and treatment of CAS in schools. She regularly uses social media to spread awareness of CAS, participate in online forums and discussions, and shares current research and best practices, events, and general information about CAS to the community.
