Apraxia Awareness Month Kick Off

Dear Friends,

We are so excited to kick off Apraxia Awareness Month with each of you tomorrow!

As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, our theme for this year’s Awareness Month is “Every child deserves…” in honor of our signature tagline “Every Child Deserves a Voice”.

When our organization was founded 20 years ago, we never dreamed the impact it would have for thousands of families throughout the world. Earlier this week, you may have heard from our Board Chair, Sarah White.  Even during this time of uncertainty, Apraxia Kids remains committed to our communities providing support and resources as we navigate this new normal we are all experiencing.

Apraxia Awareness Month
is our chance to educate and inform as many people as possible about our cause. However, in the world of social distancing, our staff and all of you will need to get creative in new ways to spread awareness. One way is using our voice through the power of social media. Posting messages, videos, resources, and creating your own or joining our Apraxia Kids Facebook fundraiser are all ways you can show your support and spread awareness.

So many changes over the last month have occurred for our organization but our commitment remains the same for our families and professional community.

  • Although we had to cancel our National Conference for 2020, we are working to find ways to share education free of charge this summer.
  • We are focused on sharing resources to further your knowledge of childhood apraxia of speech, providing support, and creating a sense of community so no one feels isolated or alone.
  • Our Walk for Apraxia remains a critical component for our community, celebrating our Apraxia Stars. We have extended our early bird registration deadline to June 7th for all walks. Please know that we are committed to bringing everyone together this fall, whether in person or virtually, to celebrate these amazing children.

Each day throughout the month of May, we will share a word from our social media calendar with a variety of prompts and tools for you to show your support. In addition, we will once again host our Annual Day of Giving on May 14th which raises funds to support our mission for today, tomorrow, and the future. Please be sure you are following us on Facebook to stay up to date for all of our announcements and supportive information.

Apraxia Kids envisions a world where every child with apraxia of speech reaches their highest communication potential through accurate diagnosis and appropriate timely treatment. We believe that every child deserves a voice. We hope you will join us this month as we raise awareness of childhood apraxia of speech!

Warmest Regards,
