My Apraxia Journey – Brody Slotnick
Discussion with Brody and Jami Slotnick
Monday, May 6, 2024
Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST

Jami Slotnick is a full-time working mom living in Center City Philadelphia, PA. She has one son, Brody, who was diagnosed with CAS at age 3. Brody is now 14 years old, in the 7th grade and the family of three are very close.

Jami is a marketing and PR consultant catering to the food and hospitality industries and Brody is mainstreamed at Albert M. Greenfield School, a Philadelphia Public School located just 2 blocks from their loft apartment.

Jami has been a past speaker at the National Conference on Childhood Apraxia of Speech. She has also given lectures at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Center for Childhood Communication.  She treats her son like a business, which at first might sound a bit cold, but make no mistake—she stays on top of IEPS, NOREPs, Quarterly Progress Reports and Re-evaluations like a pro. She also enjoys advocating.

She is a fierce advocate for Brody and is always happy to help families along the CAS journey. During the summers, the family enjoys long weekends “down the shore” in Ventnor, NJ, where Jami’s parents reside. The happiest days are pool and beach days frolicking in the sun. “You have to hang on to life’s sweet moments and take snapshots in your mind to help you get through the rough stuff,” explains Jami “somehow, those sweet moments are made ten times sweeter knowing that hardworking, persistence and resiliency has paid off.”

Linden’s Apraxia Story
Discussion with Linden and Lesley
Monday, May 20, 2024
Starting at 7:30 p.m. EST

Linden is a fun-loving 12-year-old who loves video games, outdoor adventures, and creating his own games, especially with his younger brother by his side. He’s the middle child, with an older sister who’s always there for him and a younger brother who looks up to him. Linden is about to turn 13 in July, and he’s currently making the most of 6th grade.

His favorite school subjects are P.E. and Reading. He loves the action and energy of P.E. and gets lost in all kinds of stories during Reading time. Despite being diagnosed with Apraxia at three and a half years old, Linden hasn’t let it slow him down. He’s known for his happy, quirky personality and has a knack for making everyone around him smile.

Linden’s a kid with a big heart, a wild imagination, and an infectious laugh that lights up the room. Linden is all about having fun and bringing others along for the ride.
