Incorporating Music into Speech Therapy

Course Abstract:

Music is said to be a universal language.  Not only can music breakdown barriers, but it can be a fun way to learn and enhance speech language skills.  This presentation will discuss treatment strategies as well as tips for song selection that can be used in individual and group speech therapy sessions with children with CAS.  In addition, the Speak N’ Move program at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh will be discussed and provided as an example of how to work on speech, language, and sequencing skills through the music and movement.
