Describe treatment approach used: Treatment is based on movement gestures versus specific phonemes. Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) is incorporated with the use of multi-sensory cueing (e.g. PROMPT, turtle vowels). The Principles of Motor Learning are used to guide target selection, distribution of practice, and to facilitate generalization of targets. The child's sound and syllable shape inventories are considered for initial target selection, with ongoing stimulability checks to determine following targets. A core vocab is initially established, making sure to incorporate targets that are functional, important to the family, and that are considered "power" words. Augmentative and Alternative Communication is also incorporated as an alternative means of communication and to focus on language development.

Describe parent/caregiver involvement: Parents are involved in every session! Parent feedback is always incorporated and parents are encouraged to sit in and participate in sessions in order to provide education on Childhood Apraxia of Speech and to facilitate generalization of skills and carryover outside of speech therapy sessions. Detailed session notes and homework is sent home every session in order to make the best progress possible.
