Describe treatment approach used: In my outpatient clinic, I use principles of motor learning paired with the Kaufman Speech Praxis Kit, where I can target different levels such as VC, CV, CVCV, CVC. I primarily work with children between the ages of 1-7 years old. I focus on a set of targets for repetitive practice while making sure that my treatment approach frequency is frequent and intensive in the beginning of treatment. I aim for higher intensity treatment in the beginning in order to produce the best outcomes for my patients and reinforce motor learning. Treatment always starts at where the child is functioning. If they are preverbal, I start with picture communication and/or basic sign language and multi sensory cues.

Describe parent/caregiver involvement: My patients parents have the choice to sit in on the session or wait in the waiting room. Most of my parents come back to the treatment session in order for me to coach and provide them with motor learning strategies most successful for the child. In addition, I provide parents with various home exercise program materials such as sound cue cards, syllable structure words and activities to promote motor learning carryover in the home environment.

Describe your past and current involvement in the Apraxia community? My involvement in the Apraxia community has been limited to my wide range of pediatric patients I have treated in the last two years. In addition, I have focused on receiving multiple continuing education courses related to Apraxia.
