Describe treatment approach used: I incorporate the principles of motor learning and the treatment approach of Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Tactile Cueing to facilitate learning of the motor plan for various consonant vowel combinations so that they can produce functional utterances and increase their overall intelligibility and communication with others. Initially, I start with blocked practice and simultaneous practice (Say it with me) and a slow rate. I then have the student produce the targets in imitation (Say what I say) and attempt to use a natural rate of speech. Finally, I will encourage the child to spontaneously use the target. I will then utilize random practice as well as fade feedback to encourage generalization. Tactile cues will be used as necessary.

Describe parent/caregiver involvement: I involve parents in the target selection process. They provide me with a word list of functional words and I will incorporate these words into therapy and build upon them. I initially focus on facilitating word approximations. I also provide specific activities that they can use to incorporate their child's targets during daily routines. I inform them that their part is just as important as mine as generalization is key.
