After the eval and only a dyspraxia is present
I use Edy's DTTC protocol and use PROMPT for the tactile input.
Do I have to give her protocol because I do have it but don't want to have to write it
I follow the principles of motor learning and check to see if motor learning has happened and not good performance is therapy, by listening to the child when the child cannot see me.
They do all targets in a variety of voices and emotions because each set up in the mouth is different for each voice or emotion.
I focus my therapy on MOVEMENT not sounds and do a body warm up as the child is coming down the hall and then a motor mouth warm up in the session. I could go on and on.
I have had tables at fundraisers. I attend motor speech and will again.. I take most insurances, and medicaid so the terapy is not just limited to the self pay.
Each child must have a 3 ring binder they bring to therapy so the clinician can put written assignments in each session.
The clinician will determine how much time they want the parent in the session based on how the child reacts with the parent and vice versa.
If they are not in the whole session, each parent has a timer that will go off to alert them to go to the therapy room.
The clinician, on the patient does the therapy that is to be practiced at home.
Then the clinician has the parent do the therapy and the clinician corrects the parent so they are doing the practice correctly.
The clinician gives written instructions that reflect what they need to practice at home.
Initially the clinician works with the parent to determine specific practice times at home and then the child can put a sticker on that practice session when it is finished.
I have not. I have a clinician who is our AAC person for high tech.
If I use low tech iit is pix cards for items that are important for the child to communicate in their lives. I rarely you nonsense works or incomplete words. or animal sound or naming random animals. I look for the words that they are stimulable for that will give them the most bang for their buck in their comm needs. I also will use yes/no so at least if the child is not understood the parent can go through elimination to see what the child wants
