I use multi-sensory cueing to expand the execution of intelligible syllable shapes. Over time I work to increase the variety and length of the clients' syllable shapes through multi-sensory cueing. Simultaneously, I work on prosody, lexical strength, language and social skills. I supplement verbal speech with augmentative communication for many clients.
I was the 2016 Walk Coordinator for the Greater Atlanta Area Walk for Apraxia of Speech. We raised over $22,500!!
All parents are required to sit-in and attend all sessions. Strategies and multi-sensory cueing required by the client for success are explained and modeled throughout the session. Homework for carry-over is also explained and modeled for parents.
AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:
I believe that if a child is an unreliable verbal communicator, we must immediately use AAC to help develop language and communication. The philosophy of Aided Language Stimulation (ALaS) is employed to teach and promote Best Practices for AAC. I provide AAC assessments to determine the best system for each child.
