Overall Treatment Approach:
My treatment approach is based on the principles of motor learning and individualized to meet each child's needs. I utilize PROMPTS for restructuring oral muscular phonetic targets (PROMPT), Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), Rapid Syllable Transition Treatment (ReST), and the Kaufman Method. I strive to make therapy fun and productive. In addition to motor speech, my approach also focuses on functional communication and language development
I attended the 2017 and the 2018 Apraxia National Conferences.I have led live-sessions and webinars on Childhood Apraxia of Speech for Apraxia Kids/Apraxia Kids and was a keynote speaker at the 2017 National Conference.
Parents are actively involved in the therapeutic process. I strive to provide ongoing education regarding a child's diagnosis and treatment. I encourage families to help their children practice targets at home and in the community.
AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:
I have utilized a variety of means, including standard AAC voice-output systems. However, my favorite application is Pictello because it allows children to "tell a story" while using pictures, voice output, words, and THEIR voices! I also use sentence strips and pictures.
