Overall Treatment Approach:
My approach is to see what sounds the child currently has and then produce phrases with these sounds in order to create communication success in the classroom. I would say I use a variety of all of the Apraxia approaches out there. I use visual, verbal, auditiory and tactile cues depending on the student. I am very carefule to provide clear feedback to the child and use mutliple repetitions throughout the session. I am also careful to use the principles of speech motor learning. If needed we will use an augmentaitve or alternative communication system so that they can communicate while they are improving their overall speech intelligibility.

Parent Involvement:
I like to involve the parents as much as possible so that they understand how to impelement the strategies at home. They either watch each session or I speak to them after each session and model what I have done. I also like to have them participate in therapy to make sure they understand how to implement the strategies at home.

Community Involvement:
I am a graduate of the Apraxia Intensive Training Institute (Boot Camp). I have participated in the Apraxia walks when they are local. I have helped students get approved for iPads.
