Overall Treatment Approach:
I have specifically focused on learning the DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing) approach and have had one on one training from Sue Caspari since January 2015 along with working as one of the four therapists in her 2016 Summer Intensive Program in Swarthmore, PA using the DTTC approach. I have been trained in using motivation assessments, an adapted form of the DEMSS (to assess syllable shapes and determine where to start therapy), use Sue Caspari's 17 point scale to measure and track progress based on DTTC (Simultaneous production, Direct Imitation, Delayed Imitation, Spontaneous Productions) and implemented multi-modality cueing techniques to assist clients with attaining the most successful speech attempts.
Percent of CAS cases: 25
The majority of parents are directly in my sessions or watch via video to see therapy techniques and cueing used. Parents are provided specific home practice targets each night to carryover at home. Specific cues used in therapy are taught to the parents and they practice them prior to departing. We are in touch via e-mail or a shared Google Drive document as needed. Parents provide a suggested target list as well and continue to edit it as we progress.
At this time, I am just beginning to get involved in the Apraxia community. I did attend my local CAS Walk in Philadelphia in 2015, have taken many of the online courses through Apraxia Kids, am seeking out continuing education courses specifically related to CAS treatment approaches and have used many of the resources on the Apraxia Kids website professionally and with families. I hope to become more involved as I grow in my knowledge and will be working with Sue Caspari in her 2017 Summer Intensive Camp.
