Overall Treatment Approach:
Based on the evaluation results, I design an individualized treatment using a multisensory cueing approach to treatment of CAS. Starting where the child is, we work together to build functional syllables, words, and phrases important to the child, family, and/or school curriculum. Frequently, augmentative or assistive communication is incorporated to facilitate speech development. This may include sign language, picture systems, or high tech devices, such as an iPad app.

Parent participation and interaction is important to the success of therapy. As such, therapy techniques are modeled for parents and when possible, parents participate in at least part of the session. Homework completion is rewarded.
I have participated in the Nashville Apraxia Walk, the closest walk to me. I am a member of the Apraxia-kids Facebook groups (national and Tennessee.) Additionally, I have provided numerous trainings to school systems on CAS for SLP staff, as well as general education teachers, special education teachers, and assistants.
