Overall Treatment Approach:
Therapy is provided with parents in the room. I teach the parents how to work with their child at home between sessions. I begin working through an articulation hierarchy, a word shaping/phonology hierarchy, and cueing hierarchy. There is focus from the first day of therapy on dynamic sequencing of sounds, co-articulation and prosody. I focus on learning through play.

Percent of CAS cases: 0.7

Parent Involvement:
Parents sit in on the sessions and take notes. I train the parents on my techniques. Depending on the child, the parent may practice with the child and therapist during the session. The parent reproduces the same session at home at least once before the next appointment. There is regular communication between parent and therapist.

Community Involvement:
I am a graduate of the Apraxia Intensive Training Institute (Boot Camp). I have enjoyed organizing an Apraxia walk in my area for many years. I have spoken to local parenting groups, students at the local university, and professionals at my state SLP convention and the American Speech and Hearing Association conference. Additionally, I have spoken about CAS at the Apraxia Kids National Convention. I have also organized a local CAS parent support group.
