Percent of CAS cases: 25

Parent Involvement:
Immediately following assessment, I discuss with parents the report and that treatment plan is based on Summary of Speech Behaviors based on Pre-treatment Assessments and Parent Report. Parents are trained from the beginning for cueing, strategies and rationale and interrelationships of CAS progress with other goals of child. Parents are enlisted to provide school based reading materials/ workbooks, assignments, etc due to the fact that Print–text will be a support for phonological awareness, and sequencing. It is explained that there is a high probability that their child will require explicit intervention to develop phonological awareness abilities for reading and spelling skills

Community Involvement:
Highlights of my professional ties with Apraxia Kids and other therapists affiliated with Apraxia Kids: I am a member of the Apraxia Kids professional directory. From as early as 1999, I had referred preschool patients for evaluation to Dave Hammer when he was at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and I would then implement his written treatment plans if the family could not attend therapy at Dave’s location. In the schools, I was the SLP for the Language and Speech Preschool for students with Apraxia and other severe speech and language delays. I have attended trainings provided by Dave Hammer. I have evaluated and treated patients with Apraxia of Speech under the supervision of Dave while an employee of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. I have also provided therapy for CAS and developed a preschool workshop for Apraxia and other severe speech and language delays at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
