Overall Treatment Approach:
My approach applies the principles of Motor Learning. This means I approach each individual from the point of observing and understanding where on the continuum of development this individual is. I then apply evidenced based motor learning princples to target selection (what we work on), session planning approach and feedback. In addition I am a child development expert and apply what I know about ages and stages to assessment and planning of sessions.

Percent of CAS cases: 20%

Parent Involvement:
Parents are given as much opportunity to participate as they would like as long as participation is productive for parent and child. I enjoy having parents in sessions and offer ideas for home practice and activities to encourage social/emotional and speech/language development.

Community Involvement:
I have been involved in the Apraxia community as a speech therapist for over 20+ years. Initially my involvement was through seeing patients and taking several levels of prompt coursework and courses with Pamela Marshalla. I added a university course in pediatric motor speech when I felt I need more and have taken many 1-2 day workshops from nationally recognized experts. About 10 years ago I was asked to present at the Apraxia Kids (now Apraxia Kids) annual conference and have been participating in that speaking about social-emotional, play and resilience topics as they relate to CAS. In December 2017 I was asked to join the professional advisory board. This past summer I participated in the boot camp experience.
