Overall Treatment Approach:
My treatment approach emphasizes movement patterns, including use of principles of Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing and multi-sensory cuing hierarchy. A core set of child specific functional stimuli is incorporated as well. Intensive and individualized treatment is often necessary of childhood apraxia, typically in a play-based manner. I work on prosody throughout treatment. Therapy is tailored to each specific child depending on their needs and severity, always keeping in mind the principles of motor learning.

Percent of CAS cases:

Parent Involvement:
Parents are an integral part of CAS therapy. They are taught specific verbal and visual prompts as well as treatment targets in order to facilitate carryover of speech across settings. Typically I will give them ideas for fun activities with syllables and word shapes that their child has mastered or almost mastered to do at home. If AAC is used, parents also learn how to incorporate the system at home.

Community Involvement:
I present and consult with school districts. I am currently working at a clinic specializing in treatment of CAS. I also provide AAC consultation.
