Credentials: MS CCC-SLP
Hours of Operation: At this point, the hours of operation are dependent on parent availability. I have found that having sessions available during the traditional work day doesn't allow for the parents to be a part as much as we would all like them to be. Morning/afternoon/evening/weekend hours are available.

Overall Treatment Approach:
This is dependent upon how the child is currently functioning. A child who presents as minimally verbal is very different than a child who is able to produce some syllable structures but with significant groping. It always goes back to the motor planning aspect - looking to expand the types of words and sentences, while providing the optimal amount of trials and feedback. It's important to figure out which "tool" in my "toolbox" works best for children. I may use PROMPT or K-SLP for one child, but then use DTTC or ReST for another. The best thing to do is build repertoire while having a grasp on where they are currently functioning, and then utilizing the best tool for success.

Parents are an integral piece of therapy. Children need to have the consistent, correct practice in order to learn the correct motor plan. I look for the child to be successful in therapy, and then incorporate the parent as a therapy partner in order to continue to practice at home. I find that parents want to be a member of their child's team beyond just bringing them to therapy and waiting outside.
I am a mom of a child with apraxia, so it's more than just a career, but something I'm passionate about as a person. I attended the 2018 Apraxia Kids conference. I've since had a few local SLPs reach out to find out more information about what I have used, and what I've found successful. I'm looking forward to reaching out to local pediatricians in order to increase their knowledge. I am looking forward to being part of future Apraxia Walks.
