Overall Treatment Approach:
My treatment approach for kids with CAS is: 1-Based on my assessment and baseline data, I choose a small number of initial targets that the child shows stimulability for and that are functional and motivating to ensure there are plenty of opportunities to practice both in and out of the clinical environment. 2-Children are scheduled for frequent and intense therapy sessions with a high number of practice trials. In addition, specific home practice strategies and materials are provided to the parent along with specific instruction for home practice 3-During initial therapy, tactile, visual and verbal cues are utilized and faded as independent skill level improves 4-Specific feedback is provided to the child on their productions to facilitate generalization and motor learning 5-Goals are written based on assessment results and clinical observation: As the child adds phonemes to their inventory, new syllable structures are addressed. 6-Therapy will follow the hierarchy of isolation, syllable, word, phrase, sentence, conversation

Percent of CAS cases: 8

Parent Involvement:
Parents should be present in all therapy sessions to observe and participate in therapy techniques so that they can follow through appropriately at home. Specific ongoing parent education needs to be provided regarding other areas that can be impacted such as language, math and reading. Parents should be provided therapy target material so they can facilitate generalization at home.

Community Involvement:
I have participated in the Apraxia walk in my community. I have participated in providing fliers regarding Apraxia at kids fairs to facilitate improved understanding in the community. Our company shares information for our local Apraxia chapter regarding their events and support groups on our social media and in clinic bulletin board to increase Apraxia awareness.
