Overall Treatment Approach:
I tend to use play based sessions to achieve a strong relationship with my clients. I start off by finding out their sound inventory and looking at what words/targets will be helpful to them that we can get, such as their name, or power words, such as on, go, no, etc. I develop a book of these picture stimuli to practice once they can use more volitionally. Multi sensory cues are used throughout, such as tactile, visual, and verbal. I like to use the cognitive cues by David Hammer (humming sound, etc). I try to get multiple repititions of each target and provide appropriate feedback. I look closely at syllable structures the clients have and incorporate those until more sophisticated speech targets. I use AAC, sign language, and picture communication board immediately to assist with lessening frustration.

Parent Involvement:
Parents are often involved in therapy. I share target words with them, videotape sessions if they are unable to watch part of or all, and participate in communication with parents via email, text, etc. Parents are advised to practice words/targets that the clients can provide with cueing consistently. New targets, we choose together. Parents are supported through use of AAC.

Community Involvement:
   - I participated in our first walk in Syracuse in September 2016. - I am involved on the Apraxia Kids FB page. - I help run a SLP Moms of Apraxia Group. - I attended last year's conference and try to participate in the webinars. - I support Apraxia Kids on Giving Tuesday.
