Overall Treatment Approach:
Every child is an individual so I do not do the same for each child. However, I take into consideration what sounds and syllable shapes a child can produce and then try to build from there. I use a variety of treatment "tools" including PROMPT, other multisensory cueing, Moving Across Syllables, Kaufman cards, and high frequency word lists provided by families, and always incorporate these techniques into play based, "fun" treatment, where the child never feels self conscious or uncomfortable. My practice contains a large variety of games and toys depending on whether a child isn't ready for formal sit down therapy which would be activities like trains, cars, building materials etc., to more formal sit down at the table therapy where we can color, read books, play games etc all while working on target sounds, syllables or words etc.

Percent of CAS cases: 75

Parent Involvement:
Parents sit in on every therapy session and are shown the different cues that work for their child. Parents are asked for a list of 10 high frequency words to target during therapy and at home and once those are mastered, new ones are added. Parents are given homework after every session with different ideas of things to do to carryover treatment objectives targeted in therapy.

Community Involvement:
My daughter has global apraxia and is almost 9. We have been a part of our local community since she was diagnosed, attending walks, meeting with other families, attending seminars, attending Apraxia Kids and reaching out to other SLPS with experience in CAS.
