Overall Treatment Approach:
I use dynamic therapy approaches that are fun and engaging, but that incorporate principles of motor learning. I use block and variable practice, depending on child's placement in therapy. Block practice is balanced by whole body movements that can incorporate the target syllable shape or word. For example, if practicing a word such as "up" we would do an activity to deflate a balloon and send it "up" and "down". A variety of prompts and cues are used to facilitate motor learning, such as tactile cues and fading dynamic temporal cueing, depending on the child's learning style, stimulability to prompts and cues, and severity of CAS. Frequent feedback is given and periodic probe testing is used to measure progress

Percent of CAS cases: 20

Parent Involvement:
Parents are always involved in therapeutic sessions. As the majority of my therapy takes place in the family home, parents are present and able to observe treatment approaches. They also assist in selection of target vocabulary to make therapy functional for each child.

Community Involvement:
In the past, and currently, I have helped parents to advocate for appropriate services for their children through early intervention and school aged services. I have also attempted to sponsor an apraxia walk, but instead used my time to volunteer and provide information for parents in the community.
